The Sierra Leone Police in the Southern Region have arrested two individuals in Bo for allegedly possessing firearms, ammunition-related items, and police uniforms unlawfully.

The arrest occurred on Tuesday, 27th August 2025, at approximately 10:00 a.m. when the Operations Team of the Bo East Division, led by Operations Officer Inspector Evangelist Lahai, acted on intelligence provided by concerned residents of Gbondo Town. The suspects, Rodney Massaquoi and his wife, Mamie Jacob, were apprehended following a search of their residence.

According to police sources, the search resulted in the discovery of a single-barrel gun, an empty rifle magazine, five pairs of Operational Support Division (OSD) uniforms, three OSD berets, two pairs of boots, a cutlass, a butcher’s knife, three kitchen knives, two OSD belts, and other suspicious items.

The arrest was prompted by public reports that Massaquoi was frequently seen transporting unusual items to his home at odd hours. Further investigations revealed that Massaquoi had previously served as a police constable, having been enlisted in November 2005. However, he was dismissed from the force in September 2024 after being charged in connection with a cattle larceny case in Pujehun District.

Both suspects remain in custody and are assisting the police with ongoing investigations. Authorities have stated that the investigation is still active.
