The Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Mr. Jimmy Batilo Songa, has declared that there must be no camps within the party, emphasizing that the newly elected executive must work together as one united team.

Chairman Songa acknowledged that disagreements are natural within any organization but stressed that such differences must be managed with dignity and respect. He noted that the SLPP is too important to Sierra Leone’s national destiny to allow minor issues to escalate into major problems that could divide the party.

He revealed that the work of the newly elected executive has already begun and called on all members to desist from factionalism. He urged party members to focus on uniting the SLPP, eliminating campism, and collectively implementing the party’s agenda.

According to Chairman Songa, party leaders, members, supporters, Sierra Leoneans, and the international community are closely observing the SLPP. He highlighted that His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, the Leader of the SLPP and Chairman of ECOWAS, represents the party on both national and international platforms, making unity within the party more critical than ever. “At this time, unity must always remain our culture,” he stressed.

He assured members that he will lead with fairness, discipline, and efficiency, with the goal of strengthening the bonds that hold the party together as one family. He pledged to follow the directives of the party leadership and to work tirelessly to ensure that the SLPP remains in power in 2028.

Chairman Songa emphasized that while members may have different roles and responsibilities, the party’s primary focus must be to unite, uphold the SLPP’s legacy, and prepare the party for the future of Sierra Leone.

“Today’s event is not just a celebration; it is an affirmation of our collective readiness. This newly elected body will continue to provide stability and steer the party in the right direction. It also marks the beginning of leadership rooted in unity, discipline, service delivery, and accountability,” he said.

He concluded by reaffirming the party’s commitment to its core principles, noting that the future the SLPP desires will not happen by chance but must be built carefully, deliberately, and collectively.

“That future can only be achieved if we do it together,” Chairman Songa stated.
