Sierra Leone’s Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister has led a delegation from the tourism sector to participate in the world’s largest tourism trade fair, International Tourismus Bourse ITB Berlin, Germany.
The Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs together with other delegates attended a Ministerial round-table on the topic: Mastering transformation on a Global Stage.
Dr Memunatu Pratt is optimistic that these strides are crucial to uplifting tourism development and to improve inbound tourism.
The event occurred from the 7th – 9th March, 2023 at the prestigious City Cube, Messe Berlin.
“We cannot rest on our oars when others are taking advantage of the post-pandemic opportunities to revamp tourism,” remarked the Tourism Minister.
Funded by the World Bank through the Sierra Leone Economic Diversification Programme, the country’s representation in this year’s ITB Berlin is unique owing to the strategic location of the stand, the features on the stand and the networking opportunities available.

Travel journalists, Group Tour Operators and destination promoters are flooding the Sierra Leonean stand at ITB Berlin not only to know what the country can offer but also how they could extend their trips to the West African Nation.
Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Dr Memunatu Pratt is optimistic that sharing a space with over 10,000 exhibitors from 180 countries, Sierra Leone will surely get a pie of the international travelling cake.
While positioning itself on the global marketplace, the country is equally learning about the newest trends in travel and tourism. With over 160,000 trade visitors, ITB Berlin presents an opportunity to network with like-minded professionals and expand.
With the theme Mastering Transformation, this is the first in person ITB Berlin event after the pandemic.
The Tourism potentials of Sierra Leone couldn’t be exhibited at a better time than when the country recently launched an ultra-modern airport.
The Sierra Leone Embassy in Germany is aiding the Ministry of Tourism in facilitating the nation’s participation in these exhibitions.
