In an effort to showcase companies’ collaboration and commitments, Mano Mining and Logistics recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sierra Rutile Limited during a local content workshop held on Tuesday at the New Brookfields Hotel in Freetown.
Ibrahim Mansaray, Chief Executive Officer of Mano Mining and Logistics, highlighted that as a Sierra Leonean-owned company providing services to mining institutions, especially Sierra Rutile Limited, the signing of the MoU is a significant step towards enhancing the involvement of Sierra Leoneans in the mining sector through training programs.
Mansaray emphasized that the collaborative efforts with Sierra Rutile Limited have enabled them to capacitate 150 Sierra Leoneans, who received training in various specialized areas within the mining operation. Notably, 35% of the trained individuals are women.
According to the Mano Mining CEO, this initiative represents a pioneering effort in Sierra Leone, where a mining service provider actively supports the training and development of citizens across the country. He stressed that the primary goal of this training is to empower Sierra Leoneans, enabling them to provide for themselves and their families.
Mansaray also pointed out that the training programs aim to create a level playing field, where Sierra Leoneans can play key roles in mining operations, thereby contributing to economic growth.
Theuns Debruyn, Chief Executive Officer of Sierra Rutile Limited, expressed appreciation for the collaboration with Mano Mining and Logistics. He stated that the MoU will contribute to the socioeconomic growth of the country and foster a potential working relationship, especially in terms of providing equipment within the operational areas. Debruyn emphasized the commitment to prioritizing the value of the people in their collaborative efforts.
