Sierra Leone is among eight Candidates shortlisted to participate in the ICC Africa Regional Cricket Orientation Training Programme, which commenced on Tuesday 12th April 2022 via webinar.

The countries currently taking part in the knowledge-receiving engagement include Uganda, Gambia, Nigeria, Botswana, Kenya, Ghana, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Sierra Leone.

This is a training tutor program that aims at empowering the successful candidates to be able to train coaches and award Level One Certificates at country and regional levels.

The tutors will be equipped and accredited by ICC to deliver relevant courses and accredit participants under a global framework in the respective associate members.

The Chairman of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association, Francis Trevor Samura, is among those shortlisted following his tutor and umpiring background.

Conducted by ICC Master Educators (Antony Ferreira and Chris Cardoso), the training itself will last for four weeks covering improved approaches to tutoring programs.

Chairman Samura says the training is relevant and timely as SLCA zooms closer to beefing up its human resource base.
