Seventy one years old media practitioner and gospel singer from the United States of America has described Sierra Leone as a special place in the planet where people show love and respect.
Skip Crowell has visited Sierra Leone eight times and he has expressed his wish to be coming every year to entertain the children of Sierra Leone through gospel music.
In an exclusive interview with this medium, Skip said Sierra Leone is hard to hate.
“The kids are lovely and quit obedient here”, he said, adding that when he performs for them they easily resonate with his songs. He said the people have to work harder to ensure the country develops so the children will have more fun and live happily.
The children have to be shown love and care so they grow up to be responsible citizens tomorrow”, he noted.
He said he comes here every year to help with the annual Chaplain Conference taking place here in Freetown.
He said his interaction with Sierra Leonean children has yielded fruits being that parents, guardians and principals are admitting that his engagements with their kids have helped in changing the character of these children.
He said the way the kids sing his gospel tracks show that the Gospel of Christ is spread in the country considerably. He said they have been teaching the kids to learn morality, honesty and integrity so they can practicalise good principles in society.
He said seeing the kids singing gives him a lot of joy wishing he could take these kids to sing for Americans in the U.S. with zeal and energy.
Apart from the Chaplain week-long Conference he is here to grace, Skip Crowell entertained over five hundred school kids in the John Obey community along the Peninsular last week.
The kids, including pupils of the Rural Academy and Rokel Agriculture Secondary Schools expressed their delight in the performance of Skip and colleague who played the base guitar during their thrilling stage performance. They said the outreach, organised by the Rawlings Foundation, was a big blessing expressing that it would be good for the foundation to keep inviting Skip to sing for them the gospel.
