The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadie Kamara, today met with the Chief Executive Officer of Africell Mobile Company, Shadi Gerjawi, at the SLFA Secretariat in Kingtom, Freetown, to discuss potential sponsorship opportunities.
The meeting centered on exploring partnership prospects for the 2025/26 Sierra Leone Football Association (FA Cup) Tournament and the ongoing renovation of the SLFA Secretariat.
Also in attendance were SLFA Vice President I, Alie Badara Tarawallie; Vice President II, Prince Saquee; Executive Committee Member, Kweku Lisk, Esq.; Acting General Secretary, Mohamed Benson Bawoh; Ambassador Junior Navo, Chairman of Africell Sierra Leone; and Afrimoney Marketing Director, John Konteh.
During the meeting, President Kamara highlighted the significant potential of football in Sierra Leone, emphasizing that the FA Cup serves as a crucial platform for over 250 clubs nationwide to compete and showcase their talents. He expressed optimism about the collaboration with Africell, stating, “A partnership with Africell would further strengthen football development and help Sierra Leone compete effectively at both regional and continental levels.”
Following the discussions, the delegation toured the SLFA facility to inspect the ongoing renovation works and explore how Africell could support and enhance the facelift project.
In response, CEO Shadi Gerjawi praised the proposal and reaffirmed Africell’s continued commitment to supporting sports in Sierra Leone. “Africell has a passion for sport,” he said. “We will review the proposal and explore ways to support both the FA Cup and the facelift of the SLFA Secretariat.”
This strategic meeting highlights the growing interest of corporate institutions in partnering with the SLFA to promote football development and national sporting excellence.
