The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Thomas Daddy Brima has embarked on a groundbreaking initiative to distribute 10,000 footballs to schools nationwide. This ambitious project aims to promote football development at the grassroots level, fostering a love for the sport among the next generation of footballers.
The initiative is supported by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe’s Foundation, which focuses on football development in Africa.
Each district will collect 500 match balls to be shared among schools. District chairmen will sign agreements confirming the number of footballs allocated to each school. President Brima has warned that any attempts to undermine the process will be addressed by the Anti-Corruption Commission, ensuring accountability and transparency.
By the time schools reopen, President Brima aims to see football being played in every part of Sierra Leone. Thorough visibility studies have been conducted to determine the appropriate number of footballs for each school, ensuring that the initiative is well-planned and effective.
This initiative is a significant step towards promoting football development in Sierra Leone. President Brima’s continued commitment to transparency and accountability will help ensure the success of this project, marking a major milestone in his first term in office.
