Sierra Leone female National team Sierra queens are currently engage in an intensive training at the Sierra Leone’s Football Academy in Freetown ahead of their crunch tie against the Gambia Women national team (Scorpion Queens).
According to Abdulai Kaloga Bah the head coach of the national female side said the team has intensified preparation to face it West Africa nation in a mouthwatering match.
He affirmed that the team has embark on lots of physical training aspect to get the female players with match fitness ahead of the qualifiers, he added that though there is no active female Football League in the country as that would have been an advantage to their preparations.
He further that they the Gambian side is a tougher side, but hopeful that his side will win their match and progress through to the next rounds of qualifiers. He said the Female team wants to emulate the senior man team that had progress to the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Abdulai Kaloga Bah is calling on the Government, the Ministry of Sports, the National Sports Authority and the Sierra Leone Football Association to give the team it necessary supports so that the team can qualify for major tournament.
He further that over the years the Sierra Leone teams have been getting it very difficult against the Gambians Female national team, but the players want to write their own record as they are closely following the Gambian team as they prepare.
The first rounds of the qualifiers will played from 18th October to the 29th October 2021. And the returned leg will be played in Banjul two weeks later.
The senior female team last played an intensive tournament last years when Sierra Leone hosted the West Africa Union Tournament where the team ends up in the group stage.
