In a significant step towards enhancing entrepreneurial education in Sierra Leone, the Sierra Leone Economic Diversification Project (SLEDP), in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDA), supported an Exchange Visit to Ghana involving five tertiary institutions.
This initiative, under the SLEDP’s Support to Tertiary Institutions Programme, aims to strengthen entrepreneurship development across higher education institutions in Sierra Leone.
Representatives from Limkokwing University, University of Makeni (UNIMAK), Eastern Technical University (ETU), Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), and Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU) visited four key entrepreneurship centers in Ghana, including Ashesi University, Accra Technical University (ATU), Impact Hub Accra, and Academic City University, during the week-long visit, which took place from August 19th to 23rd, 2024.
During the visit, the delegation explored best practices for developing entrepreneurship hubs at the tertiary level. They visited Ashesi University’s Incubation Hub and Entrepreneurship Center, ATU’s Career Entrepreneurship Center, and the Academic City University Career Center and concluded with a stop at the Accra Impact Hub.
This Exchange Visit offered Sierra Leonean institutions an opportunity to engage in knowledge sharing, resource exchange, and partnership building. The program emphasized practical approaches to fostering creativity, innovation, and proactive problem-solving within their respective entrepreneurial ecosystems.
Funded by the World Bank through SLEDP, this initiative is poised to empower students with real-life entrepreneurial skills and enhance the overall entrepreneurship capacity of tertiary institutions in Sierra Leone.
