Senior Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Fatmata Edna Kargbo, along with a trade expert from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, is representing Sierra Leone committed to more competitive global trading system at the World Trade Organization’s Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF) Global Forum, currently taking place in Geneva, Switzerland.

The forum serves as a strategic platform for least developed countries (LDCs) to explore how trade can be harnessed as a driver of sustainable economic growth, development, and poverty reduction.

Addressing participants at the event, Amb. Kargbo highlighted the importance of Sierra Leone’s presence at the forum, stating, “Our participation here is crucial for sharing knowledge and experiences that can help us enhance our trade capabilities and drive sustainable development.”

The EIF Global Forum brings together representatives from LDCs around the world to identify trade-related challenges and explore innovative solutions that can improve access to global markets. For Sierra Leone, insights gained from these discussions are expected to influence national policy aimed at boosting trade performance and building economic resilience.

Amb. Kargbo and her delegation are actively engaging with international stakeholders, exchanging best practices, and advocating for policies that reflect the priorities of Sierra Leone and other LDCs. These engagements are closely aligned with Sierra Leone’s broader development goals, particularly in the areas of trade infrastructure and institutional capacity-building.

Through its participation in the forum, Sierra Leone is reaffirming its commitment to becoming a more competitive and integrated player in the global trading system. The knowledge and partnerships developed during this forum will play a pivotal role in shaping the country’s future trade policies and strategies for sustainable development.
