This year, the Sierra Leone Basketball Federation (SLBF) successfully negotiated with FIBA to strengthen the development of basketball in the country. As a result, FIBA has agreed to provide the Federation with a scoreboard and shot clock, with a second set promised to follow shortly.

In addition, FIBA is donating basketballs in different sizes to support players across all age groups: size 5 for youth under 12, size 6 for female players and size 7 for adult male players

These items are being provided completely free of charge. The only obligation of the Federation is to arrange shipment of the equipment to Sierra Leone.

This generous support from FIBA marks a major milestone for basketball in Sierra Leone and is a clear recognition of the Federation’s ongoing efforts to grow the game at grassroots and national levels. The SLBF remains committed to ensuring these resources reach the right hands and are used to foster talent, encourage participation, and elevate the standard of basketball in the country.

We look forward to continued collaboration with FIBA and other partners as we drive basketball forward in Sierra Leone.
