The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Alhaji Musa Timothy Kabba, presented Deed of Gifts of lands at Hill Station to representatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Turkey. These lands will be used for the construction of their respective embassies in Sierra Leone.
During the presentation of the land documents and conveyances to the heads of the missions in the conference room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Minister Kabba emphasized the Sierra Leonean government’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with its international partners. He noted that the establishment of physical embassies demonstrates the high level of bilateral relations between Sierra Leone and these nations.
The Minister highlighted the significant bilateral cooperation between Sierra Leone, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey in areas such as trade and investment, global peace, and security. He expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its support in empowering the Sierra Leone Armed Forces with technical training to counter terrorism and external aggression, and for its investments in the health sector.
Ali Elhaji, Charge d’Affaires of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, thanked the Government of Sierra Leone for providing suitable land for the construction of their embassy. He mentioned that this development will greatly facilitate movement, trade, cultural exchange, and development programs between the two nations.
Turkish Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Her Excellency Sibel Erkam, praised Sierra Leone for its cultural heritage and expressed gratitude for the swift processing of their land request. She assured that the construction process would commence soon and looked forward to the commissioning of the new embassies.
