Kamara furthered that they are targeting 40 participants and that they’ve already contacted presidents of all sporting disciplines under the National Olympic Committee to send two athletes each to represent their respective associations.
He highlighted that the Athlete365 Career+ is a program that empowers athletes to maximize their education and employment opportunities. It also helps them strive confidently into a dual or post-sports career. It supports athletes at all stages of their career, helping them discover their potential and plan for their life beyond the world of competitive sport through a blend of advice, training and peer-to-peer learning.
The workshop is a first step to creating awareness and education about the athletes’ future transition to life after sport,” Chairman Kamara noted, calling on participants to focus and make good use of this workshop as participants will receive certificates on both days of the two-day session.
“We want to make sure that we decentralize the programme so that athletes and coaches across the country will equally benefits. Last year, we started the Athlete365 Career programme in Freetown, we are now hosting it at Makeni and later this year we are going to Bo and Kenema,” he affirmed.
The Chairman concluded by thanking the Co-Chairperson – Olympian Hafsatu Kamara, the NOC’s President Prince Sualley and his entire executive, and also the IOC for their support towards the Athlete365 Career+.
