His Excellency Sadique Silla, the Ambassador of Sierra Leone to the Arab Republic of Egypt, paid a morale-boosting visit to the Leone Stars at their camp at the Jewel Sports City and Aqua Resort in Cairo on Monday, March 24, 2025. The visit took place ahead of Sierra Leone’s critical 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Egypt’s Pharaohs on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
The Ambassador was accompanied by Mohamed Bockarie Kallon, Information Attaché, and David Kamara, Finance Attaché of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Egypt.
During his address to the team, Ambassador Silla congratulated the Leone Stars on their impressive 3-1 victory over Guinea-Bissau, a win he described as a source of pride for Sierra Leoneans both at home and abroad. He praised the team’s performance and encouraged them to maintain their momentum as they continue to represent the nation on the international stage.
“I have full confidence in you all,” Ambassador Silla stated. “Approach tomorrow’s match fearlessly, and fight for Sierra Leone as you always do.”
The delegation present at the meeting also included Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, Chairman of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Hon. Hindolo Moiwo Ngeveao, Chairman of the Parliamentary Oversight Committee for Sports, Lamin Sesay, National Sports Coordinator, and Sorie Ibrahim Sesay, Director of Competitions of the Sierra Leone Football Association.
In response, NSA Chairman Ibrahim Nyelenkeh expressed his gratitude for the Ambassador’s visit, acknowledging its importance in motivating the team. He assured the Ambassador that the team was fully prepared and determined to perform well in the upcoming match.
Leone Stars Assistant Coach Musa Kallon welcomed the visit, noting that it served as an important morale boost for the players. He emphasized the team’s confidence and readiness as they continued their preparations for the match. Head Coach Mohamed Kallon echoed these sentiments, reaffirming the team’s commitment to securing a positive result against Egypt.
On behalf of the players, team captain Kei Kamara expressed gratitude to Ambassador Silla and his delegation, stating that their presence had been invaluable in lifting the team’s spirits. He reassured the Ambassador of the team’s dedication to giving their best performance in tomorrow’s encounter.
With strong support from the government, officials, and Sierra Leoneans worldwide, the Leone Stars are determined to face Egypt with focus and determination as they continue their journey in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
