In a bid to appreciate talents and to put Kono District on the entertainment map in the country and beyond, the Sierra Kono Entertainment Association (SiKoEA) has organized its First Kono District Entertainment Awards at a popular entertainment centre Opera Cinema in Kainkordu road, Koidu City. The awards ceremony helped SiKoEA to highlight and celebrate some of the hit-markers in the entertainment industry in Kono District with the overriding justification of paving the way for Kono Artists across borders.
Prior to the awards ceremony, the Chairman of the Sierra Kono Entertainment Association (SiKoEA) Komba Gbetuwa briefly explained the biography of the Chief Executive Officer of Sierra Kono Entertainment Association – SiKoEA who is presently based in Canada SAA ANDREW GBONGBOR. According to the Chairman of Sierra Kono Entertainment Association (SiKOEA) the CEO of the aforementioned Association SAA ANDREW GBONGBOR is the President of the New Brunswick African Association (NBAA) and founder of Battle of the Arts, noting that he is a former war child from Sierra Leone who fled the African country in 1998. He relocated to the Gambia in 2004 and later to Fredericton which he now calls home.
Komba Gbetuwa maintained upon arrival, Saa Andrew Gbongbor thought it prudent to use his artistic skills to speak, sing, volunteer and participate in communities where he went throughout New Brunswick.
The chairman of SiKoEA intimated that his boss further continued with his gesture as a Saint Thomas University Student, but after graduating in 2010 he began looking for new ways to give back to the community he was born. Owing to this back drop the CEO of the Sierra Kono Entertainment Association (SiKoEA) conceived the initiative of Battle of the Arts N.B. by supporting his brothers and Sisters in the entertainment Sector in Kono District.
