The Sierra Leone National U-20 Female team, the Shooting Starlets, relinquished a two-goal advantage, settling for a 2-2 draw against Liberia at the Southern Arena Stadium in Bo City.

The match was filled with drama as Sierra Leone initially took the lead with a goal from Fatmata E. Conteh in the 45th minute, followed by a second goal from Sarah Turay in the 71st minute. However, Liberia responded fiercely in the latter part of the game, with goals from Olive Nyumah (74’) and Makasiam Saryon (89’) to level the score.

In this round-robin format, teams compete for points, and the nation with the highest total will be crowned the tournament winner. For the Shooting Starlets, securing a victory in their next game is crucial to keep their hopes alive for lifting the trophy at home. They must focus on their performance in the upcoming match against Liberia.

Lamin Tarawallie, Assistant Media Officer of the Sierra Leone Football Association, emphasized the tournament’s importance, stating it provides valuable opportunities for female players to prepare for major upcoming competitions. He also noted that the Football Association plans to handle registrations for future events.

The tournament continues on Friday with Matchday 3, promising more exciting action.
