The High Court of Sierra Leone holding at Makeni presided over by the Hon Justice Unisa Kamara has on Friday 15th July 2022, convicted and sentenced Foday Sulaiman Bangura, a Private Security guard of the Lion Rock Security Agency to pay a fine of Fifty Million Leones or serve five years imprisonment.
Justice Kamara gave out the judgement following the conviction of the security guard on one count of corruption offence.
The convict Foday Sulaiman Bangura was convicted on one count of engaging in Academic Malpractice, contrary to Section 128 (3) of the Anti-Corruption Act no.12 of 2008 as amended by the Anti-Corruption Act of 2019.
Foday Sulaiman Bangura was indicted by the Anti-Corruption Commission on two counts of conspiracy to commit a corruption offence, contrary to section 128 (1) and engaging in examination Malpractice contrary to 128 (3) of the Anti-Corruption Act no.12 of 2008 as amended by the Anti-Corruption Act of 2019.
The particulars of offence states that the convict Foday Sulaiman Bangura on the 27th November 2020 at Makeni, conspired with other persons unknown to commit Academic Malpractice to wit by impersonating Abu Bakarr Sankoh, and wrote the business management paper for the said Abu Bakarr Sankoh during the November/December 2020 West African senior School certificate examination (WASSCE) conducted by the West Park Examination Council (WEAC).
However, Abu Bakarr remains at large and was also declared wanted. The Anti-Corruption Commission was represented by Timothy PM Sowa Esq.
