Amara Junior Kamara, a security guard, made another appearance before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura at Pademba Road Court No. 4 in Freetown. He is facing a charge of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Tuesday, 29th April 2025, at Off Spur Road, Lumley, in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly stole four rolls of four-millimeter core flex cable, four rolls of eleven single earth cable, and other assorted items. The total value of the stolen items is estimated at fifty-six thousand two hundred and twenty Leones (Le 56,220), all being the property of Design and Building Construction Limited. At the time, Kamara was serving under Cons Crop Security Company and was entrusted with the security of the premises.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.
Prosecuting the matter, Inspector Tejan A. Bangura requested a short adjournment, citing the absence of his witness. Defense counsel, L. Ellis Esq., renewed and adopted a previous bail application on behalf of the accused.
Magistrate Samura granted bail in the sum of sixty-five thousand Leones (Le 65,000), with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must be ordinarily resident in the Western Area of Freetown and are required to produce either a valid national passport or a national identity card displaying their residential address. Bail is to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
The matter was adjourned to 2nd June 2025.
