Security Guard Granted Bail for Office Breaking and Larceny

Mohamed Kamara, a security guard, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Court No. 1 in Freetown, facing charges of office breaking and larceny, contrary to Section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Saturday, 25th January 2025, at the Ministry of Energy Electricity building on Siaka Stevens Street, Freetown, Kamara allegedly broke into the office of the Stores and Inventories Unit and stole two laptops one pink and one grey HP laptop—valued at seven thousand Leones (7,000), the property of Junisa Baba Fofonah.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

Inspector Kadie M. Taylor requested a short adjournment to confer further with her witnesses.

Counsel for the accused, M.K. Donda Esq., renewed and adopted his previous bail application on behalf of Kamara.

Magistrate Kekura granted bail to the accused in the sum of one hundred thousand Leones, or one surety in the same amount. The surety must produce a valid identity card with their address, and must be a resident of Freetown. The bail is to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar. The case has been adjourned to 10th April 2025.
