Second quarter disbursement… GOVT. ALLOCATES OVER LE 37 BILLION TO LOCAL COUNCILS

Consistent with government support towards Local Councils, the Bio led administration through the Ministry of Finance, has on Friday the 17th of September, made a colossal disbursement in the Sum of Le 37, 004,200,000 into the respective administrative Bank accounts of all twenty-two (22) Local Councils.

This glad tidings for the twenty-two Local Councils was made public in a press statement wherein, the Ministry of Finance furthered that the disbursement constitute the second half of the Fiscal Year 2021.

The Ministry of Finance also disclosed that the payment is in addition to the Le 31,517,145,000 that was disbursed to the Local Councils on Quarter one of this year.  The press statement continues that the cumulative transfers to councils for the fiscal year of 2021 are Le 68,521,345,000.

It further informs that the allocation and payments of funds to councils are based on councils’ population, under five consultations, hospital utilization rate, and total school enrolment, area of crop cultivation, population without access to safe drinking water, youth population and urban population among others, using a formula that is developed with the input of twenty-two Local Councils.

“Upon receipt of these funds, Local Councils must transfer them to the various devolved accounts as per schedule sent to them. Also, councils must display details of such devolved sectors, including amounts on council’s notice board and other places for the General Public to have access to the  finance flows”, the press statement concludes.
