The Western Area Football Association (WAFA) searching for Stars U-15 tournament has kicked started over the weekend at the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) headquarters in Kingtom.
What seems to be very impossible to achieve due to the Covid-19 pandemic backed up with many drawbacks has been fulfilled by the Western Area Football Association in organizing its maiden U-15 Searching for Stars football competition in the country.
On Saturday, at the Sierra Leone Football Association Academy many football dignitaries including the substantive SLFA president Thomas Daddy Brima together with his executive members graced the grand opening ceremony.
The match started with high hopes between two outstanding youth clubs making great strides in grassroots football development – FC Kallon vs Orthodox FC.
Both teams showcased their footballing skills with many chances created. But, in the 42 minutes of play, Umaru Kamara scored the opening and only goal which made the difference in the match for Orthodox Football Club.
At the end, the Team Manager for SLIFA FC Abubakarr Sesay (Baja) presented a match ball to the goalkeeper for Orthodox FC Alieya Mansaray as man of the match award for his outstanding performance in the entire opening ceremony.
The WAFA U-15 Searching for Stars competition has received much acclaimed appreciation from football loving fans across the country. Thus, the league organizers are calling on the Ministry of Sport, National Sport Authority, Football administrators, corporate institutions, philanthropists to render support to this football development drive taken by WAFA.
The WAFA U-15 Searching for Stars organizing committee wants the public to know that all matches are played behind closed doors across its match venues and officials who will be allowed to enter should wear face masks.
