Dr. Samura Kamara the All-People’s Congress flagbearer for the forthcoming general elections has been invited for the second time by his political comrades at the Supreme Court of Sierra Leone challenging his candidature. The said originating Notice of Motion under the Civil Division was on the 17th May 2023 filed by two former APC senior comrades.

It is evidently clear that the main opposition party APC is unsettled, aimlessly, and unprepared to contest the upcoming June 24 general elections.

The recent political tsunami heating the All-People’s Congress where top executive members and senior supporters cross-carpeting to the present ruling party SLPP to give their loyalty and support against them has been a serious blow to the APC.

As if that is not enough, information reaching this medium shows that the Former Flagbearer aspirant and Minister of Sports under APC Mr. Paul M. Kamara together with Reverend Alimany Coleson Turay have filed a petition to the supreme court against the candidacy of the current APC presidential candidate Dr. Samura Kamara.

The applicants (For Di People Journalist Paul Kamara and Christian Reverend Alimamy Coleson Turay) have both served the APC as Cabinet Minister of Youths & Sports and as Deputy Ambassador to the United States of America respectively under the former Ernest Koroma APC-led Government.

Both Applicants (Kamara & Turay) say they are against the Chief Electoral Commissioner (1st Respondent) and the Electoral Commission (2nd Respondent) provisionally Nominating their APC Comrade Dr Samura Kamara (3rd Respondent) by their APC party (4th Respondent).

Therefore, Paul Kamara & Coleson Turay have taken all those 4 entities up to the Supreme Court where they apparently objected to Samura Kamara’s candidacy and want the Supreme Court to interpret whether their grounds of Objection hold sway.

On the other hand, the Judiciary of Sierra Leone is yet to confirm this latest development, but sources close to the Judiciary and with the stamp (Supreme Court Stamp) on the filed documents have confirmed that the Supreme Court has received Objections against Dr Samura Kamara, the presidential candidate of the main opposition, All People’s Congress.

As per the mandate, the Chief Justice is supposed to select Supreme Court Judges to preside on such matters, this medium will furnish our esteemed readers when such is done.
