The Sierra Leone Water Company (SALWACO) has announced a nationwide crackdown on individuals and institutions that have failed to settle their outstanding water bills. According to recent figures, an increasing number of people and institutions owe SALWACO, leading to a significant drop in water bill payments. This situation has the potential to negatively affect institutional productivity and disrupt cash flow, which is crucial for the company’s operations.

In response to this challenge, the leadership of SALWACO has vowed to take stringent action, including disconnections and enhanced revenue collection efforts.

Managing Director of SALWACO, Ing. George Lamin Vandi, who is leading this initiative, emphasized that all individuals and institutions with outstanding debts must be held accountable and pay their bills in accordance with the company’s policies. Letters have already been sent to these debtors, urging them to clear their outstanding balances in a timely manner.

During its recent general retreat, themed “Revenue Generation for Sustainable Development,” SALWACO discussed strategic management, debt collection strategies, and other measures to ensure adequate resource mobilization for the company’s sustainability.

The leadership team has made it clear that this initiative is results-driven, motivated by the company’s desire to achieve financial stability and independence.

If individuals and institutions comply and settle their debts, SALWACO could make significant strides toward achieving its financial independence.

To ensure the full implementation of these debt collection strategies, SALWACO’s leadership has instructed all employees to engage in aggressive revenue collection, marketing, and stakeholder outreach. The goal is to minimize, if not completely eliminate, the problem of debtors and ensure the company’s long-term financial health.
