Government mouthpiece at the Strategic Communication Unit of the Ministry of Information and Communications, has said Sierra Leone’s economy has recovered from the state of one that needed life support to one that has created thousands of jobs with sporadic human capital development.

Abu Bakarr Joe Sesay was rating the SLPP government’s three years down the line since elected into State House. Sesay said the government has increased revenue generation by over two trillion Leones noting that government spends a hundred billion Leones every month to offset debt accrued by the Ernest Bai Koroma administration. He said three years down the line, teachers can now boast of 40-50% salary increment noting that lecturers and security personnel will this month start getting 50% salary increment as promised by the President.

He said three thousand medical practitioners have been given pin codes with increased salary rate, noting that such upliftment has led to decrease in maternal mortality.

Revamping the mining and agricultural sectors, according to the government mouthpiece, will lead to more jobs and tremendous infrastructural development across the length and breadth of the country, and said the Tamabum and Port Look rice investment would enhance the much talked about food security drive as the government spends two hundred million Dollars on the importation of rice annually.

The country is being rated by Economists as one of the fastest growing economies in the sub-region with government paying salaries from domestic revenue not resorting to bank over drafts as it was the case with the former government.
