The Sierra Leone Veterans Table Tennis Limited Association has on the 14th of August 2021 opened their Office at the Siaka Stevens Stadium stand 11 close to the Presidential Lounge so that the Public can reach them.
According to Prince Kaitongi the President of the Sierra Leone Veterans Table Tennis Limited they came up with such idea because all of them in the Veterans Table Tennis Association have played the sports and have represented the Country on many occasions and they want to beef up table tennis.
He continued that he will help the young table tennis players where they get it wrong and they will correct them and prepare their minds for international outings.
He affirmed that the rationale of having the association is to help promote table Tennis both locally and internationally and to help the young Athletes to guide them prepared them and give them more experience ahead of international competitions.
He added that they want to take sports in the provinces because Freetown is not Sierra Leone they want to decentralize the sports so that ex-table tennis veterans will join and help improve the sports in the Country, because in other parts of the Sierra Leone people don’t know the sports as the large number only knows football.
He further that they will not form a parallel body as they are the senior and want to be helping the young players and they will serve as technical body, advising body to the parent body.
“I will not encourage any member who is not a Veteran Table Tennis player as part of my executive and that should be a wake called to the parent body; you can go get someone who is not a table tennis players and employed him definitely that individual will not delivered” said Prince Kaitongi.
M. Kaitongi said “I have plans to sustained the Veterans Table Tennis Association as that is my key mandate I decided to set up these with my own money with no support from Government any individual it is because of the love I have for table tennis am calling the public to come onboard let help developed the sports.”
Stevens Keifela the director of Participation and Sustainable development at the National Sports Authority said they want associations to to see how best they can decentralized the Sports to Schools and communities and encourage young players to involve in it. He encourage other Sporting disciplines to emulate the good work of the Veterans Table Tennis Association, because the National Sports Authority is charged with the responsibility to regulate all Sporting disciples in the Country.
According to Honorable Julius Kofi the Vice president of the Sierra Leone Veterans Table Tennis Association the association has been in operation for quite some months now and they are glad to officially Open it to the Public because the Sports is a renowned sports in the Country even at old age you can still played the sports.
He continued that among some of the reasons for the set-up of the association is to see how best they can also represent the Country in Veterans Table Tennis competition internationally if funds are available because they want to be involved in competitive sports and host Veterans Table Tennis competition at home.
