H.E. Dr. Morie Komba Manyeh attended the 4th Pan-African Ahmadiyya Muslim Association (PAAMA)- U.K. Peace Symposium at the Baitul Futuh Mosque in Surrey, London. The symposium focused on Economic Equity and Eradicating Poverty: Keys to Peace.
PAAMA, a part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, operates under the mission statement “to unite, empower, and inspire the African Ahmadiyya Muslim diaspora to serve Islam, Society, and Africa.”
PAAMA event took place at the Baitul Futuh Mosque in Surrey, South London. The Baitul Futuh is one of the largest mosques in Western Europe. Beyond religious services, the mosque plays a pivotal role in public education and community cohesion.
The symposium aimed to explore ways of promoting peace, deepen understanding of Islamic teachings, and inspire concerted efforts aimed at strengthening understanding across faiths and non-faith communities worldwide.
Attendees were shown around the sprawling facility with its vast prayer spaces, immaculate washrooms, conference halls, and an Islamic bookshop.
Mr. Tommy Kallon, President of the Pan-African Ahmadiyya Muslim Association-U.K., delivered a passionate welcome address in which he described poverty as a scourge that denies people access to education, healthcare, and other basic human rights. In an atmosphere of increasing global tensions, Kallon urged the world to stand together “for peace and against poverty, inequality, and exclusion.”
Other symposium speakers included the Governor of the Bank of Sierra Leone, Dr. Ibrahim Stevens, and Hon. Melrose Karminty, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Social Welfare, both addressing the audience via a virtual link, calling for peace, unity and goodwill among the peoples of the world.
