As part of their routine visit to Media houses, a high powered delegation from the Republic of the Sierra Leone Arms Force (RSLAF) led by the Director of Communications attached to the Ministry of Defense Colonel ABS Bah has on Thursday the 21st of July 2022, paid a courtesy visit to A-Z Multimedia Corporation for a Memorandum of Understanding and a partnership agreement between the two institutions.
The delegation comprised of the Director of Communications Colonel ABS Bah, Lt. Colonel I Bangura, Major Bassie, Major Hassan Kamara and Lieutenant Mahota Jenneh Jah.
In his statement, the Director of Communication Colonel Bah intimated that the essence of such a maiden visit to one of Sierra Leone’s dominant media houses (A-Z Multimedia Corporation) was to have a partnership agreement and Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions.
Director Bah also commended the Management of A-Z Multimedia Corporation for serving as a reliable conduit in transmitting developmental messages to the people and also playing the watchdog role in holding state actors accountable. Colonel Bah also encouraged the management especially the editorial team to continue upholding professionalism and objectivity especially when reporting on issues with high security sensitivity.
He acknowledged that the media has the power to create security unrest in a society especially when security related matters are not well vetted and disseminated. The Director of Communications also sent a generic word of encouragement to all media houses to feel relaxed in directing questions or seeking clarifications from the Ministry of Defense assuring that, the Communications Unit in the Ministry of Defense is always open to journalists. He concluded by reaffirming the Ministry of Defense’s unflinching commitment to working with A-Z Multimedia Corporation as the partnership agreement continues.
In his welcoming statement, the Chief Executive Officer of A-Z Multimedia Corporation Dr. Ibrahim Seibure, confessed that he felt very elated to have received such high powered delegation from the Ministry of Defense. He stated that the objective of A-Z Multimedia Corporation is to change the narratives of the ill happenings within the media landscape of Sierra Leone. He added that A-Z is more into development journalism in order to promote and protect the interest of Sierra Leone.
Dr. Ibrahim Seibure assured the delegation that A-Z Multimedia Corporation would continue to promote issues that are of National Interest. He concluded by extending a profound thanks and appreciation to the delegation and also, assured the delegation of A-Z’s undying partnership and support to the Ministry of Defense.
