Electricity outrage at the Rokupa Government Hospital in Freetown has claimed the life of an under five child.
According to information gathered, there was a general electricity outage at the said hospital and stand-by generator was unable to produce enough current that could help sustain the life support machine the under-five child was under.
A-Z maintained that the under-five child was admitted to the Rokupa Government Hospital because of a serious health condition and therefore needed urgent treatment but due to the reported outage of electricity to power the life supporting machine the child was put under; the baby had to give up the ghost.
Meanwhile, information making the rounds states that the death of the under-five child cannot only be limited to the reported outage of electricity at the aforesaid hospital but also a reported sour working relationship between the medical superintendent and the secretary at the said hospital coupled with the free medical supplies not benefiting the intended beneficiaries. Meanwhile, efforts to contact officials at the Ministry of Health and Sanitation especially the public relations officer proved futile as he arrogantly denied commenting on the said issue. However, he noted that his ministry was embarking on routine checks and investigations in all government hospitals across the country
