A plot by the APC party to disrupt the 2023 through violence has been uncovered by a combination of State security and intelligence operatives. The key element of the plot involves rejecting the 2023 elections, and inciting violence. According to sources close to State security and intelligence officials, the plot had been planned a long time ago. It began with the planting of APC politicians, or their children, and active supporters in sensitive elections observation institutions like the National Election Watch, and the EU Mission in Sierra Leone. The job of these people in the National Election Watch, and EU is largely to repeat to the international community lies fabricated by the APC, and their newspaper and Civil Society associates.
It can be recalled that the APC has in recent times fabricated minor incidents and used them to suggest that the SLPP plans to rig the 2023 elections. For example, in mid-October 2021, the APC through their mouthpiece newspapers said that the increase of the salaries of NEC workers this year was an incentive by the SLPP to rig the 2023 elections. In another recent example, the APC fabricated evidence of electoral fraud over one Results Return Form for the Councilor elections in Ward 155, during the Koinadugu bye-elections in October. It could also, be recalled that it was the APC during the Koinadugu Bye-election that instigated violence, and later used the attempt by the Police and military to restore order as evidence of elections rigging.
It has been learnt that these activities of the APC, their newspapers and Civil Society associates to discredit election management institutions is a build-up of the party’s key strategy for the 2023 elections. The APC, their newspapers and Civil Society associates are simply laying the foundations to discredit the 2023 elections, and reject the results. Sources say government is fully aware that the APC, and their surrogate newspapers and Civil Society organizations are going to be manufacturing, propagating disinformation and lies to discredit the 2023 elections. The APC’s end-game in discrediting the 2023 elections and rejecting the results is to create chaos; with the hope of getting political benefits. The use of violence and chaos has always been the major weapon of the APC during elections.
In the last week of October, APC politicians naively celebrated the misguided Press Statement by the EU Post-2018 Election Mission, as victory for their strategy to discredit NEC, PPRC, the Police, and the Military. APC has not realized that the EU has simply blown the cover off their strategy and their operatives within the system. Government and the international community are now beginning to understand the APC’s strategy; and are monitoring how it unfolds. President Bio is not underestimating the APC’s capacity and preparation for mischief in 2023; a source within Government has said. In 2023 Government will be fully prepared for the day when the APC will fraudulently claim that the election was rigged.
