Social Media was peddled with rumours, a couple of days ago that the Minister of the Northeast Region, Abu Abu Koroma was dead.
In Makeni, some people were dancing over the fake news of his death until he appeared at the scene like a ghost from Heaven that was the moment they discovered that God had not taken his life.
Personal Assistant to the Minister, Sheikh Umar Turay thanked this medium for trying to investigate and confirm whether it is true or not. He said the Minister is alive and actively doing the duties his boss, Dr. Julius Maada Bio gave him.
Reacting to the fake news, the Minister, said he was on his way to the usual Provincial Security Committee (PROSEC) meeting on Tuesday, when people started calling his mobile phone to confirm his death.
“Unfortunately, I was not able to pick some of the calls but some people rushed to my house and told me they heard I was dead”, Abu Abu told A-Z newspaper.
He confirmed that he is well and has not gotten any attack as expected or claimed by members of the opposition in Makeni where the rumour emanated from.
He said as a Muslim, he would never wish for any opposition strong man to die because of politics.
Abu Abu has issued a stern warning to parents especially in Makeni not to allow their children to go for registration at the centres during this second phase of voters registration. He expressed the need for a peaceful electioneering process and called on supporters of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) to go out to the centres and register to vote Maada Bio for the second term.
He also called on the people in the region to avoid violence and abide by the law.
