In an effort to maintain security calmness in the region and further improve on administrative synergy between the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Sierra Leone Road Safety Corps, the Regional Police Commander South, AIG Aiah Edward Samadia has on the 17th June 2021 summoned a cross section of the Road Safety Corps and the SLP hierarchy to a meeting at his Office in Bo.
The Regional Police Commander further maintained that, he has clocked four weeks in Office and that he had examined the socio economic, political and cultural effects of the people in the Southern Region.
He further opined that night offences have been curtailed due to robust security measures put in place in Bo City.
He however, informed commanders that lawlessness amongst commercial motor bike riders as well as drivers is a call for public concern.
“It is our responsibility to curb lawlessness by regulating the behaviour of both drivers and commercial motor bike riders in consonance with the law” he said.
He therefore, implored all and sundry to highlight strategies to curb the perpetual lawlessness among bike riders and drivers in the city of Bo and its environs.
Lot of issues were highlighted by commanders as talking points in order to discuss in the proposed meeting with Bike Riders union, Drivers Union, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and other relevant stakeholders in Bo City.
This engagement is in line with my 21st Century Policing system which encouraged continuous engagement of stakeholders for amicable redress. The AIG added.
He urged all and sundry to maintain a healthy working relationship between the Sierra Leone Police and the Sierra Leone Road Safety Corps for effective service delivery.
It was unanimously agreed that the Road Safety Corps and the general membership of the Sierra Leone Police must attend a general parade slated for the 22nd June 2021.
