Guests of the news review program on Radio New Song FM 91.3 in Kono District have accused some members of parliament in Kono District of economising the truth.
The guests made the statement whilst reviewing the matter that has to do with the walk out action of at least five members of parliament representing the Coalition for Change party in the well of parliament on Tuesday 18th May, 2021, when president Bio was about to deliver his state opening address in the fourth session of the fifth Parliament of the second Republic of Sierra Leone.
According to them, they were surprised to hear from one of the walked out members of parliament Hon. Sahr Charles that the Tuesday 18th May, 2021 walk out of parliament has been occurring for about four times.
Prior to the recent walkout, some of them categorically denied that they never walked out of parliament but went to seek for medication for their colleague who was reportedly unwell and could not stay to attend the parliamentary sitting.
The guest pointed out that if the reported walked out members of parliament are not making mathematical mistake then they are more or less economising the truth for their alleged wrong doings which they described as unfortunate as members of parliament.
“As the implication of economising the truth, leadership cannot be over emphasised as it has the following religious, moral and leadership deficiencies”. One of the guest said.
The News review guests implored members of parliament who were found wanting of economising the truth to stop forthwith as the act is of no benefit to them. The guests warned.
In a similar development, the aforementioned guests have described walkouts as meaningless in the political history of the country and have therefore advised members of parliament not to settle for walkouts when expressing their stands on issues in the well of parliament. They pointed out that since the establishment of parliament walk outs by both past and present members of parliament have never yielded dividends and therefore noted that they are meaningless and useless in the political arena of the country.
