The Public Sector Reform Unit (PSRU) under the office of the Cabinet Secretariat on Thursday 1st December, 2022, held its Annual Staff Retreat at the Makambo Village Resort in Makeni.
Welcoming participants at the ceremony which commenced on the 30th November and ended on the 3rd of December, 2022, the Director of PSRU, Mrs Geogiana Kamara said the stock-taking and planning retreat is a milestone to the sector towards rebranding the public sector.
Speaking on the theme of the Retreat ” Institution Reflection: A reality check” Director Kamara said the retreat is providing an opportunity for them to reflect on the sector’s achievements, challenges, weaknesses and strengths.
She added that the retreat is also an opportunity to position PSRU in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the public sector.
Highlighting some of the achievements made so far, Mrs Kamara said the Sector has over the years supported the reforms of the Public/ Civil Service among others.
Giving the purpose of the retreat, one of the Senior Policy Analysts, Mr Idrissa Koroma said, the retreat was to critically re-examine the successes and challenges in line with achieving their goals and then develop a working road map to serve as guide in correcting their missteps and improving on their timeliness where necessary.
The facilitator of the retreat, Dr Abdul K. Mbawah spoke on the importance of staff retreat which he said gives an insight into the reality of institutional growth, adding that retreats induce either distraction or sluggishness, and can take staff beyond both.
The opening session of the retreat was climaxed with presentations by various Heads of department on departmental objectives, achievements, challenges and future plans.
