The ongoing case involving the alleged conspiracy to murder Musayaroh Barrie, Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority, was brought before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Tuesday, 24th June 2025. The five accused persons were once again remanded in custody.
The accused Albert Sheriff Soloku, Foday Turay, Musa Kamara, Augustine Rashid Kelfal Josiah, and Kadiatu Kamara are charged with one count of Proposing to Murder, contrary to Section 4 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861.
According to the police charge sheet, the accused allegedly proposed to murder Musayaroh Barrie on Friday, 18th April 2025, in Freetown.
The prosecution, led by Chief Superintendent of Police Joan Bull, called Detective Police Constable (DPC) 17171 Alie Kamara from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters to testify. During cross-examination by defense counsel Maddieu Sesay, the witness was questioned about how the complainant obtained the threatening audio recordings allegedly made by the accused. DPC Kamara responded that he had no knowledge of how the recordings were received.
He further confirmed that he had sent the audio files for forensic analysis and acknowledged that the complainant is not a certified voice expert.
At this point, defense counsel Sesay requested an adjournment to continue his cross-examination. He also renewed his bail application for the accused, which was denied by the presiding magistrate due to the seriousness of the offense.
The five accused remain in custody. The matter was adjourned to Tuesday, 1st July 2025, for continuation of cross-examination.
