Prison Officer Arraigns Prison Officer For Alleged Threatening Language

Thomas Daddy Koroma a prison officer made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba road court No.2 in Freetown on six count charges, two ranging from threatening language, intimidation, insulting conduct, Abusive language and public and provocation.

According to the particulars of offence on diverse dates between Wednesday 1st to 30th November 2023 at Kaningo, Juba the western area in Freetown did make use of threatening language by saying” Are go kill you if you win the case, we get na count” against the complainant Rugiatu Koroma with intent to provoke her to commit a breach of the peace.

On count two count two on the above date and place did make use of threatening language by saying “are go make raray boys dem born you ose” against the complainant Rugiatu Koroma, with intent to provoke her to commit a breach of peace.

On count three the accused person on the above date and place did make use of intimidation words against the said complainant.

On count four on the above date and place the accused person did make use of insulting words against the said complainant.

On count five, the accused persons on the above date and place did make use of Abusive language against the said complainant with intent to provoke her to commit a breach of the peace.

On count six the accused persons on the above date and place did make use of insulting and provocation words against the said complainant with intent to provoke her to commit a breach of the peace.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, he pleaded not guilty

S.M Komeh Esq lead Prosecution witness number one Rugiatu Koroma chief correctional officer said she came to know the accused person when he was roofing his house.

She recalled on diverse dates between 1st to 30th November 2023 something transpired between herself and the accused person, the witness said she was communicating with her tenant when the accused person came out of his house Said to her that “you baster dog Basta ass Alaki tin waetin u dae put mot pa am for” ar member say you bin for don pull me na ya so i go show you say me na Limba, the witness said the accused person told her that he will kill her.

The witness said she has told the accused person to move from her property upon that her daughter mariatu Sesay came out and told the accused person she had him insulting and threatening her mother, the witness said she is seeing the accused person moving around her house she became afraid because she is the only one living at home. She fears of been attacked by the accused person she reported the matter at Lumley police station.

She was referred to her office but her office refused to investigate the matter because she has a matter against the accused person at court No.5 already waiting for judgment, she concluded.

The accused person was unrepresented by legal representative.

 

Cross examination by the accused person, since you share boundaries between us did you get any issue with me; the witness said yes, the accused person always uses abusive languages on her.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura refused bail, been the accused person was on a bench warrant, he was sent to the male correctional facility in Freetown.

The matter was adjourned to the 6th February 2024 for further hearing.
