Prince of Wales Secondary School has proudly inaugurated its first-ever Multi-Purpose Sports Complex on the school grounds in Kingtom.
Alumnus Harbert Williams, based in Sydney, Australia, expressed that the construction of this complex marks a significant milestone that will greatly enhance the development of sports among students. He emphasized that the upcoming centenary celebration is a once-in-a-lifetime event that will contribute profoundly to the school’s history.
Williams stated that the centenary celebration sets a benchmark for other schools to emulate, highlighting that this legacy project will have lasting significance for all Prince of Wales alumni worldwide.
Aiyor Dalay Robertson, President of the OPA USA, shared that their organization aims to give back to the school annually, with a focus on improving infrastructure. He mentioned that they have donated 500 desks and 500 chairs to foster a conducive learning environment. This initiative was prompted by recent images showing students standing during classes, which motivated them to support the school’s needs.
Dr. Mineral Harris, an alumna from the 1971-1972 class, remarked that the construction of the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex exemplifies the positive impact alumni can have. She believes it provides an opportunity for young people to see the commitment of past students to enhance the school’s infrastructure. The complex will be instrumental during annual school events such as prize-giving ceremonies and debating competitions.
Aiah Emmanuel Walker, a student in the SSS 2 Science Department, expressed excitement about celebrating the centenary on school grounds. He noted that the new sports complex is a significant addition, as the school has historically faced challenges in providing adequate sporting facilities.
