less than three months after assuming the office of the President of the Sierra Leone Police Wives Association, Mrs. Matilda Doris Sellu has started showcasing evidence of a development oriented leader. With her ambition to develop the lives of the Sierra Leone Police Wives, on Sunday October 2, 2022, she  commenced the construction of ten rooms of modern toilet facilities at the Police Wives Vocational and Training Institute at Kingtom Police Barracks in Freetown.

“This is just a tip of the iceberg; you cannot run an institution or a school without proper toilet facility, which I believe has the propensity to impede on learning. To improve on the lives of Police wives has been my vision long before my appointment, and by the grace of God, I am working assiduously to making sure my vision is fulfilled before my tenure in office ends”, Mrs. Sellu exclaimed in a closed door meeting.

Rumours mongering amongst the membership of the Sierra Leone Police Wives Association are of the opinion that, Mrs. Sellu could be that docile, humanistic, caring, God-fearing and honest leader the association has long been yearning for.  Thus, she became the first ever president of the association to embark on a tour to all Police Barracks across the country in a quest to enquire about challenges and constraints Polices Wives do encounter in their various Police Barracks and homes. With such disposition, the rumour mongers claimed it’s a good start, and that they look forward to seeing more of her good works, which could impact on the lives of Police Wives, and could also have a direct effect on our Police Officers.

Speaking to the Press,  Mrs. Sellu discloses that she has intention to decentralize the already existing Police Wives Vocational and Training institution to the Provinces, to help capacitate other Police wives in the provinces.  She pledged to address some of the challenges highlighted by Police wives during her nationwide familiarization tour; pointing out that clean drinking water has been a major challenge, which in most times put the girl child at a greater risk to go to extreme distances in search of water.

“Creating boreholes for the extraction of clean drinking water if not all, but in most Police Barracks is going to be my most prioritized project”. Mrs. Sellu concluded.
