H.E Brigadier Rtd. Julius Maada Bio and his wife Fatima Maada Bio has visited and restored hope to the families of the recent mudslide victims in looking Town eastern Freetown.
The incident left about half a dozen people fatally buried during the landslide occasioned by heavy rains on Sunday August 28th 2022.
The president`s visit to the victim`s families together with his wife on the early morning of 31st August 2022 was a clear indication that indeed they are concerned about the people of this nation.
The visit was hastened as a way to express condolences to the bereaved family and to improve the situation for the victims who survived.
In his speech, the president pledged to use all human resources to treat the injured people as soon as possible and to assist the youths in ways that will aid them in the lives.
He assured them that his government will not give them drugs that will create hindrance to the success of this nation.
Madam Fatima Jabbie Bio urged everyone to remain calm and pray against tragedy because after the Almighty God, his husband would reply to their prayers swiftly.
President Bio stated that he wished he could do all what they asked for, but noted that his government has many responsibilities to perform and that has to be done through proper planning.
He concluded by urging all youths to stay away from violence and he assured them that the youth leader of the said community will bring good news that will transform their lives.
The president was accompanied by officials of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) including its Director Rtd Lt.Gen Brima Bureh Sesay.
