Freetown experienced a vibrant addition to its nightlife and tourism sector as President of Sierra Leone, Rtd. Brig. Julius Maada Bio, officially unveiled the highly anticipated “Chapter One Entertainment Complex.” Situated at the heart of Freetown, this world-class entertainment center is poised to become a key driver in attracting both local and international tourists to Sierra Leone.
The grand opening ceremony drew celebrities, local and international influencers, business leaders, and government officials, showcasing the event’s significance.
The complex features a state-of-the-art sound system, luxurious VIP lounges, international DJs, and a fusion of local and global cuisines. Its sleek design and panoramic sea views promise a world-class nightlife experience that will attract tourists and boost Freetown’s evening economy.
Permanent Secretary Edward Kwame Yankson, speaking on behalf of Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs Nabeela Tunis, hailed the initiative as a strategic move aimed at enhancing Sierra Leone’s appeal as a modern tourist destination. “As the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs prepares to host the 3rd UN Tourism Africa Gastronomy Forum in April 2026, Chapter One adds a new dimension to Freetown’s urban tourism appeal. It enhances the city’s nightlife, providing both tourists and residents with a safe, modern, and immersive space to enjoy live performances, fine dining, and premium events,” he stated.
Fassally Tarawally, the owner, explained that the vision behind the project was to create a genuine, world-class venue that meets global standards, aligning with the government’s broader objectives of building infrastructure and creating jobs.
In his remarks, President Julius Maada Bio praised local entrepreneur Fassally Tarawally for his commendable venture. He emphasized that private sector investment is crucial for national development and noted that the government has created an enabling environment to support such endeavors. He reiterated that tourism, as a key element of the Big Five government agenda, has the potential to generate jobs and foster economic growth while encouraging further private sector investments.
Tourism experts believe that the opening is timely, as the government continues investing in infrastructure and branding campaigns under the “Year of Ecotourism 2025” initiative. The complex is also expected to partner with hotels, tour agencies, and airlines to offer package deals for visitors.
