Njala University will on Saturday 10th April, hosting a graduation ceremony for two set of students ranging from 2018-2019 to 2019-2020 academic years at the Bo Mini Stadium.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the university, Ralph Simeon Sesay, President Bio has consented to grace the occasion to confer Diplomas, certificates and PHDs.
He said the COVID pandemic largely prevented the graduation of some students that is why the two set of students will be blended.
He said not all of that number of students will attend the ceremony noting that some will be done in absentia as a way of crowd control to ensure there is some amount of social distancing.
Sesay said the university has created the foot soldiers and the human resource needed to boost the country’s agricultural, health and education sectors. He described the university as one that has been playing pivotal role towards the success of the Ministry of Agriculture. He said the university is getting the requisite support from the government.
It could be recalled that just as the University was planning for the 2019 graduation ceremony, the COVID pandemic struck the country foiling the entire process.
The university has a mandate to confer degrees under the distinguished Grand Chief Patronage of the President who happens to be the Chancellor of the University of Sierra Leone.
Njala University is believed to be strategic towards government’s human capital development agenda as it produces the much needed human resources for the country.
For the past one year the University has been under the auspices of a caretaker administration headed by Professor Osman Sankoh. Through the help of DSTI, Africell and others, the graduation ceremony will be shown virtually through giant speakers as a crowd control mechanism.
