President Bio Reaffirms Commitment to Strengthening Ecowas Cooperation

At the inauguration of President Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire, His President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone has reaffirmed his commitment to boosting regional cooperation and enhancing security across West Africa on Monday 8th December 2025.

President Bio underscored the importance of collective action in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity within the region.

As Chairperson of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), President Bio congratulated President Ouattara on his re-election, noting the significance of the occasion for the entire West African community. “Together, we can work to strengthen the security of our regional bloc and foster a safe and prosperous environment for our citizens,” he stated.

President Bio’s attendance at the ceremony highlights Sierra Leone’s continued commitment to regional solidarity and its role as an active contributor to peace and stability in West Africa. His message of cooperation is viewed as a positive step toward bolstering ECOWAS’ efforts to address shared challenges among member states.

The inauguration drew several Heads of State and Government from across the region, reflecting the value placed on unity and collaboration. President Bio’s participation is expected to further enhance relations between Sierra Leone and Côte d’Ivoire while promoting deeper regional integration and development.
