President Dr. Julius Maada Bio underscored the people-centric nature of the public development policy, emphasizing its meticulous attention to addressing the aspirations of Sierra Leoneans. He highlighted that the Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP) aims to cultivate an environment conducive to progress and innovation.
President Bio stressed the essential connection between thriving democracy and realistic development agendas, asserting that such agendas lay the foundation for freedom, equality, and prosperity. Despite acknowledging the challenges on the path to development, he reiterated his leadership’s commitment to recognizing and overcoming them.
The President assured that the MTNDP is designed to empower and liberate the people of Sierra Leone, transforming areas of economic challenge into havens of economic opportunity. He called for a harmonious relationship across all levels of government, urging public servants and politicians to work collaboratively towards the common goal.
Highlighting the importance of innovative financing to overcome infrastructure challenges, President Bio advocated for creative solutions through strategic partnerships with allies. He envisioned a Sierra Leone that generates at least half a million new jobs for youths by 2030, fostering a cashless economy, financial inclusion, vibrant e-government, and an efficient and innovative public administration system.
President Bio reiterated the MTNDP’s focus on dismantling barriers, enabling visionaries to envision a boundless future, innovators to work freely, and citizens to thrive without impediment. The President’s vision received commendation from Madam Seraphine Wakana, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone, who praised his profound sense of hope and determination.
