The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has presented its 2024 Annual Report to His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to the fight against corruption in Sierra Leone. Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., accompanied by senior officials from the Commission, highlighted the significant progress made in promoting integrity, transparency, and accountability across public institutions.
The 2024 report outlines the ACC’s efforts to investigate and prosecute corruption cases, strengthen preventive measures, and ensure that public resources are used efficiently and responsibly for the benefit of all Sierra Leoneans.
In his remarks, Commissioner Francis Ben Kaifala reaffirmed the Commission’s dedication to maintaining integrity and transparency in public service. “Sierra Leone will never return to the days when corruption defined us globally,” he declared. He further emphasized the ACC’s determination to make corruption a high-risk and unrewarding enterprise.
President Julius Maada Bio commended the ACC for its diligence and professionalism, describing the fight against corruption as one of Sierra Leone’s greatest governance achievements in recent years. He praised the Commission for making corruption in the country “not only unfashionable but also risky and dangerous.”
The President assured the Commission of his full support and reiterated his government’s firm political will to sustain the fight against corruption. “It is a tough job, but I shall stand firm with you,” President Bio assured.
The ACC’s 2024 Annual Report provides a comprehensive overview of its activities and accomplishments, including investigations, prosecutions, asset recovery efforts, and public education campaigns aimed at preventing corruption. The report demonstrates the Commission’s continued commitment to building a transparent, accountable, and corruption-free society.
