President Julius Maada Bio, accompanied by his family, joined Muslim brothers and sisters at the Presidential Lodge today to observe Eid-ul-Fitr prayer, marking the end of the Holy month of Ramadan. In a profound statement, President Bio extended prayers for national unity and unequivocally denounced tribalism. He called upon all citizens to unite in advancing the country’s development, urging religious bodies to serve as ambassadors of progress.

During the sermon session, the congregation lauded President Bio and his wife, Madam Fatima Bio, for their unwavering humanitarian efforts throughout the fasting period. The President’s commitment to serving the Muslim communities in Freetown and beyond garnered widespread appreciation.

The sermon underscored the importance of unity, love, and mutual respect irrespective of tribal affiliations, regional differences, or political allegiances. President Bio emphasized the imperative of embracing one another and vehemently condemned hate speeches and inciteful content circulated on social media platforms, asserting that such actions hinder national progress.

President Bio invoked prayers for the nation and urged Sierra Leoneans to uphold the country’s longstanding tradition of religious tolerance. “Sierra Leone has been globally admired for its exemplary religious tolerance and resilience,” remarked President Bio, underscoring the importance of preserving this heritage.
