Poor road network and mobility constraints were some of the major challenges that affected the successful operations of the Anti-Corruption commission Kono sub-regional office in 2021.
This is according to the commission’s Kono regional office manager, Hawanatu Omotayo Kamara. She made the pronouncement in an interview with A-Z whilst discussing the successes and challenges recorded during their operations in the fight against corruption within Kono District for the year under review.
Dilating on the strategies of the prevention and prosecution as their two main operational pathwayys in the fight against corruption in Kono District, Madam Kamara said, amidst the highlighted challenges in 2021, they were able to hold successful meetings with development partners, informal, formal and service delivery institutions to discuss the harmful impacts of corruption for the overall development of the District and the country as a whole.
The ACC further signed a memorandum of understanding with the various institutions in the bid to join the commission in fighting corruption in the District and the nation as a whole.
She added that they also embacked on public project implementation within various communities with different organizations and contracts to ensure that, those projects are properly implemented and there is value for money used to ensure best service delivery in the health sector.
The Kono ACC boss, further said, they also embacked on what she called on the spot visit to the Koidu Government Hospital and some Peripheral health units in the District and thereby engaged the village health committees and village development committees on their roles in the free health care service delivery. The ACC Regional boss assured the general public of their continual commitment in leading the fight against corruption, while at the same time called on all and sundry to be reporting corrupt related issues to the commission.
