There was once a brilliant and capable man of gentle character and disposition but of steel self-discipline who applied for a job for which he was eminently qualified. Present on the interview panel was a man who hated him to a degree of almost exuding bile. He wanted to establish that the man drank and was therefore NOT suitable for the job. He reserved his questioning of the candidate to the last.
He began, “What do you associate with Gordon’s?”
The man replied that Gordon was an army General who led a successful British expedition to Sudan. The second question was high. Again came the reply, “he was another famous British General in world war one and who is associated with Poppy day. The chairman of the panel admonished his colleague to let off because the man never named Gordon’s gin, nor Haigh’s whisky. His new question was Booth and the candidate replied that General Booth was the founder of the Salvation Army and not Booth’s gun.
He persisted and said “one more question: What do you associate with VAT 69?” Again the candidate after scratching his head replied, “I’m not sure, but it must be the telephone number of the Pope in the Vatican.” The chairman and the rest gave the job to the candidate. Like our candidate, Bio’s opponents and critics said three years ago that he was not electable; if elected he would never enter the United States of America. O, he would never meet President Trump. He would never be allowed to leave New York etc. It is now history that Bio became SLPP flag bearer, was elected President, went to the United Nations, met President Trump and he and his wife had a photo session with the American President and his wife, visited Washington DC, where he held meetings and flew across America to California. Now their prayers and negative comments notwithstanding the Leone Stars have qualified for the Africa Cup of nations and in spite of a photograph of the young man then as head of state inspecting a line-up of victorious Leone Star players 25 years ago, they’re out again with all kinds of stories to detract of the joy and ecstasy of the nation. But they will suffocate with frustration and die in their hapless misery.
Swallow your bile, learn to acknowledge Bio as President and appreciate his continuing successes. From the way the country is moving and from their jubilant mood, Maada go be President of Salone tae go.
