Political Tolerance In Makeni: SLPP North America Engages APC Bombali Chairman

Having called for massive voters registration turn out, and served food to their party agents, the Sierra Leone Peoples  (SLPP) North America Region has on Sunday 4th September, held fruitful discussion with the Bombali District Chairperson of the All Peoples Congress (APC) party on the need for  peaceful 2023 elections.

Speaking on behalf of the general membership of the SLPP North America Region especially the Chairman, Desmond Pessima, Mrs. Fatmata Dausy Wurie, Chairperson of the SLPP North America Washington DC Chapter, commended members of the opposition present for seating with them in the same room to talk about how to maintain the peace and promote the ongoing voters registration exercise.  

“Politics should not divide us, we are one people one country”, the Chairperson of the Washington  DC Metro Chapter told the gathering, adding that their door is always open for peaceful dialogue for the good of the country.

Mrs. Wurie expressed the need for Sierra Leoneans to go out in their numbers to register and vote for His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio whom he said has more to offer to the country if voted into office for the second term. 

In his contribution, the Regional Coordinator (Northeast) for the Free  Quality School Education, Mr Abu Bakarr Jalloh aka ABJ thanked the Bombali District Chairman of the SLPP for his strategic role in promoting the party in the district.

He said abroad there is cooperation between SLPP and APC members noting that the spirit of putting the country first is what matters. He expressed hope that the registration exercise will go on smoothly with massive turn out and the elections conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.
His wife, Mrs Kadi Ballah Jalloh, a member of the delegation and former Women’s Leader SLPP North America Washington DC Chapter, said the SLPP cares for all its supporters including those in Bombali which is said to be an opposition stronghold.

Former Chairman of the North America Washington DC Chapter,Mr. Allieu Dausy Wurie who is currently the Regional Coordinator, Western Area, Free Quality School Education at the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, summed up by showering praises on President Bio for his development trajectory. He said the President has delivered in terms of education and other areas which need systemic fix by the ruling party.


Abdul S. Kamara, the District Chairman under the main opposition APC thanked the North America Branch members for travelling thousands of miles all the way to Makeni to preach peace and unity ahead of the June 24 elections.

He said peace will rein in Makeni wherein people will not see the electioneering process as a do or die battle.

The host, who happens to be the Bombali District Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Saiffa thanked the branch members for coming in at the right time, noting that providing food for their party agents working the whole of the day, is laudable and it shows that they have love for the country as well as for President Bio. He said they had sensitized the general public especially supporters of the party in the district to register, collect their voters identity cards and cast their votes when the time comes.
He said he has traversed the length and breadth of the district telling people to register and partake in the ongoing voter’s registration.

After the fruitful engagement at DECOVERC office, the SLPP members proceeded to serve food to their party agents posted at registration centre 4180 on Dr. Vincent Kanu Road where the registration has been going on smoothly since Saturday.
