POLICE WITNESS TESTIFIES IN HOUSE BREAKING MATTER

Third Police Witness (PW3) Detective Police Sargent 7681 Kargbo H. who is attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarter Freetown have appeared before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of Court No 1 in Freetown on the 5th July, 2021 at the Pademba Court for alleged case of conspiracy, house breaking, larceny and malicious damage all contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone.

According to police charged sheets, the accused persons are charged with three counts, count one of conspiracy, house breaking and accession after the fact to house breaking and larceny. It is alleged in count one that the accused persons on the 10th February, 2021 at No. 104 Regent Road Hill Station Freetown conspired together with other unknown to commit a felony to wit house breaking and larceny.

In counts two it was alleged that Musa Kargbo (accused person) on the 10th February, 2021 at No. 104 Regent Road, Hill Station Freetown with intent to steal, break and entered into the dwelling house of Sao Kpato Hannah Isatta Max Kyne and stole there in the sum fifteen million Leones (Le15,000,000/00),the sum of nine thousand eight hundred United States Dollars ($9,800) equivalent to one hundred and eight million Leones (Le180,000000/00), three sets of gold necklace valued at six thousand United States Dollars ($6,000) equivalent to sixty million Leones (Le60,000,000/00), one pair set gold bracelet valued at ten thousand United States dollars ($10,000)equivalent to one hundred million Leones (Le100,000/00) and other items property of Sao Kpato Hannah Isatta Max Kyne.

In counts three it was alleged that Musa Kargbo (accused person) on the 10th February, 2021 at No. 104 Regent Road Hill Station Freetown maliciously damage and syphoned digital security box (safe) valued forty nine United States Dollars ($49) equivalent to five hundred thousand Leones (Le500,000/00) property of Sao Kpato Hannah Isatta Max Kyne.

In count four it was alleged that Daniel Sesay, Foday Sesay and Bella Darboh well knowing that Musa Kargbo entered into steal, break in to the house of Sao Kpato Hannah Isatta Max Kyne and stole fiscal cash and other properties received comforted, harbored, assists and maintained the said properties of Sao Kpato Hannah Isatta Max Kyne.

Testifying in court the third police witness said he received an enquiry from Congo Cross Police Station for further investigation. Witness said himself and a team of Criminal Investigations Department personnel’s visited the scene of crime on the 16th February, 2021. He said upon arrival at the scene he indicated to them where the incident and items were stolen. Witness said the scene of crime officer took photograph of the scene. Witness said he invited the three security personnel who were on duty with the exception of the first accused person who was at large. Witness said upon their arrival at the station, he took statement from the three accused persons. Witness said he wrote a letter to the cybercrime unit to trace the first accused person for his number and location. Witness said on the 20th February, 2021 the complainant intimated him that she has discovered her safe inside the house.

According to the witness, on that same date himself and a team of CID investigators revisited the scene of crime. Witness said upon arrival at the scene of crime the complainant accompanied them where she discovered the safe.

 Witness continued to say that they saw one damage black safe, one kitchen knife, one shirt and one mental mask. Witness said the scene of crime officer took photograph. Witness said sometimes in March, 2021 a team from the cybercrime Unit headed by inspector Tholly and a team of Interpol left for Guinea to trace the first accused person.

  Witness said while they were in Guinea inspector Tholly called and intimated him that they apprehended the first accused person. Witness said one week later the team returned to Freetown and they informed him that the accused persons are in Guinea with the Guinean authority for investigation of their passport. Witness said sometimes in April, 2021 himself and a team from the CID left Guinea to return the accused persons to Sierra Leone.

Witness said on the 30th April, 2021 he arrived with the accused persons to Freetown for further investigations. Witness said on the 1st May, 2021 he instructed the scene of crime together with the first accused person. Witness said upon arrival at the scene the first accused person made confessional statement that he was the one who entered the room of the Commissioner and stole the properties.  Witness said the first accused person demonstrated how he does the act. Witness continued that the scene of crime officer took photograph of the first accused person. Witness revealed it then that the first accused person started naming the second, third and fourth accused persons. The State Lawyer is J. M.S. Bull while I.S.Y.Kamara is representing all accused persons. The matter has been adjourned to the 7th July, 2021.
