Detective Police Constantble 1536 Abu Bakar Turay attached to the Criminal Investigation Department Kissy police station has narrated steps he took to investigate the matter between the Inspector General of Police and Alex Beccule .
The accused was charged to court and was arraigned before the sitting magistrate of Ross Road court number one, Sahr Kekura for conspiracy and larceny dwelling house contrary to law.
It was alleged on the charge sheet that on Friday 17th July 2023 at No. 315 Bai Bureh Road Rokupa Wellington, the accused conspired with other persons unknown to commit a crime to wit larceny dwelling house.
On count two it was also alleged that on the same date and place the accused entered into the dwelling house of Complainant Momoh Kamara and stole the sum of twenty five thousand Leones.
Assisted in examination in chief by chief inspector Isatu Bangura, the witness Detective Police Constantble 1536 Abu Bakar Turay attached to the Criminal Investigation Department Kissy police station recognized the accused person in the dock.
He said he was on duty on the 14th of July 2023, when complainant arrested the accused person, brought him to the station and make a report.
The witness said, he left the office with the scene of crime office Detevtive sergeant 13588 Kamara AB at Rokupa and on arrival complainant show them where he kept his property and the crime scene officer took photos of it.
The police witness said on the same date they returned to the station where he took statement form complainant and his witnesses. He said on that same date he interviewed the accused. ” My lord the accused was Cautioned and Questioned in Krio and at the end the statement was read and explained to the accused who admitted it to be true and correct and signed by affixing his Right hand thumb print.
The charge statement of the accused was produced and tendered as exhibits A one to two to form part of the Prosecution’s case.
The witness said on the 20th July with 1799 Kabia RS, he charged the accused person with the offense of conspiracy and larceny dwelling house.
At the conclusion of his examination in chief, the accused who was unrepresented said he didn’t have any question for the witness.
Magistrate Sahr Kekura adjourned the matter to the 29th of November 2023 for the Scene of crime officer to come and tender his finding and for the Prosecution to close its case.
